Whole House Water Filtration
Installed directly on your water service, so every tap, shower and outlet in the house runs through the same filtered supply, not just the kitchen sink.
What does a whole house water filter actually do?
It's plumbed into your water service before it splits off to the rest of the house, so every outlet, kitchen, bathroom, laundry and showers, runs through the same filtration rather than just one tap. It reduces sediment, rust and chemicals carried in from the water main and your own pipework, and we service it with a yearly filter change so it keeps performing.

Installed On Your Water Service
One system, every tap in the house
A whole house filter is plumbed in at the point your water service enters the property, before it branches off to the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry. That means every outlet in the home runs through the same filtered supply, not just one tap.
This install shows a twin-housing setup with gauges either side, so you can see pressure before and after filtration at a glance, plumbed in with copper pipework to the water service.
Why It's Worth Doing
What a whole house filter is actually catching
- Sediment and rust from ageing infrastructure, including old galvanised pipework still in parts of the network
- Microplastics, a real concern given how much plastic pipework exists in the wider water network and how often it’s worked on
- Treatment chemicals that remain in the supply, including chlorine, fluoride, PFAS and PFOS
We size and configure the system to your household, then talk you through the filter stages so you know exactly what’s being filtered out.
How It's Installed
From water service to every outlet in the home
Assess your water service
We check where your water enters the property and the household's demand, so the system is sized correctly and doesn't choke pressure.
Install on the water service
The filter housings are plumbed in upstream of the branches to the house, with copper pipework and isolation valves so servicing is straightforward.
Set up and test
We pressure test the install and check flow at outlets around the house before we leave, so you know it's working properly from day one.

Finished Install
Boxed in, tested and ready to go
Once the filter housings are plumbed in and pressure tested, we enclose the system in a stainless housing for a clean, finished look, like the completed install pictured here.

FAQ
Whole House Water Filtration: your questions answered
Plumbing problems can be extremely frustrating. Our licensed Sydney plumbers are here to provide fast, reliable answers and solutions.
How is a whole house filter different to a filter jug or a tap filter?
A jug or single-tap filter only treats the water you pour through it. A whole house filter sits on your water service before it branches out, so showers, laundry taps and every outlet in the home get the same filtered water, not just one tap in the kitchen.
What does a whole house filter remove?
It's an effective solution against sediment and rust carried in from ageing infrastructure, including old galvanised pipework, along with chemicals from the treatment process such as chlorine, fluoride, PFAS and PFOS. We'll talk you through the filter stages that suit your water and your home.
Where does the system get installed?
On your water service, usually at the point it enters the property, so it's upstream of every branch to the house. We run the copper pipework and fittings as part of the install.
Does it reduce water pressure?
A correctly sized system shouldn't cause a noticeable drop. We size the filter housings to your household's demand so pressure stays normal at every outlet.
How often do the filters need replacing?
We provide a yearly replacement for the systems we install, so you're not left guessing when it's due. If you'd rather change the simple ones yourself, we'll show you how.
Can I get a whole house filter and a drinking water filter?
Yes, and the two work well together. A whole house filter covers general use across every outlet, while a dedicated [reverse osmosis system](/services/water-filtration/) under the kitchen sink gives you the finest filtration specifically for drinking water.

Can You Install a Whole Water Filter System in an Apartment?
Whole-house filters get talked about like a house-only thing. In most apartments, the water entering the unit is genuinely your own pipework, not the building's shared risers, which means a whole-of-apartment filter is often possible.
