What taps do you replace?

We replace every tap in the home: kitchen mixers, basin taps, laundry taps, bath taps, outdoor hose taps and dedicated filter taps. We also replace the small isolation valves under sinks and basins where the water supply connects to the tap, which are often seized or corroded by the time the tap itself needs replacing. We supply and recommend tapware to suit the application and your budget.

Every Tap, Done Properly

Every tap in the home, replaced properly

Tap replacement is one of the most common jobs we do across the Northern Beaches and North Shore, whether it's one tired outdoor hose tap or every tap in the house during a renovation. We supply and recommend quality tapware to suit the application and your budget, then fit it properly, including the valves underneath it.

Kitchen and basin taps get the most wear, so they have their own pages with the detail: see kitchen tap replacement and basin & bathroom tap replacement. Everything else in the house, laundry, bath, hose and filter taps, plus the isolation valves under them, is covered below.

Know Your Taps

Every other tap we replace

  • Laundry taps: the taps feeding your laundry trough and washing machine
  • Bath taps: bath spouts and mixers, including older sets that have corroded or no longer match a renovated bathroom
  • Hose taps: outdoor garden taps, which take the worst of the weather and are a common replacement
  • Filter taps: the dedicated tap for filtered drinking water at the kitchen sink
  • Emergency stop taps & mini valves: the small isolation valves under sinks and basins where the water supply connects to the tap, often seized or corroded by the time the tap itself needs replacing

If the little valve under a sink or basin is stiff, won’t fully shut, or looks corroded, it’s worth replacing alongside the tap. A new tap on a seized valve still leaves you without a reliable way to isolate that fixture if something goes wrong.

How It Works

Getting your tap replaced

Step 1

Assess the tap and valve

We check the tap body and the isolation valve underneath it, so nothing's missed before we start.

Step 2

Isolate the water

The water supply to that fixture is shut off before any work begins.

Step 3

Fit the new tap

New tapware fitted properly, with the isolation valve replaced too if it's worn, seized or corroded.

Step 4

Test for leaks

Water's turned back on and every connection is checked before we leave.

If your tap is still sound and just dripping or stiff, a repair is usually the cheaper fix. See leaking tap repairs for that side of things, or whole house filtration if you’re after a new filter tap as part of a bigger system.

FAQ

Tap Replacement: your questions answered

Plumbing problems can be extremely frustrating. Our licensed Sydney plumbers are here to provide fast, reliable answers and solutions.

Do you supply the new tap, or do I need to buy one?

We supply and recommend tapware for every replacement, choosing fittings that suit the application, whether that's a kitchen mixer, a basin tap or an outdoor hose tap, and your budget.

What are the small valves under my sink, and do they need replacing too?

Those are isolation valves, sometimes called mini valves, and they're what lets you shut off the water to one tap without turning off the whole house. They sit between the water pipe and the tap, and on an older home they're often seized or corroded solid by the time the tap above them needs replacing. If we find one like that, we'll replace it at the same time so the whole connection is reliable, not just the visible tap.

What's the difference between a tap repair and a tap replacement?

A repair fixes a tap that's still sound: new washers, a new cartridge or a reseated valve. Replacement is the right call when the tap body itself is corroded, the finish has failed, parts for an old or obscure brand no longer exist, or you're simply after a different style. We'll give you an honest read on which side of that line your tap sits on. For taps that just need fixing, see leaking tap repairs.

Can you replace an outdoor hose tap?

Yes. Hose taps take a battering from weather and UV outdoors, and the ones that corrode or seize solid over the years are a common replacement for us, along with fitting new hose taps where there wasn't one before.

Do you replace the dedicated filtered water tap at the kitchen sink?

Yes, if you've got a separate filter tap at the sink, or you're adding one as part of a filtration system, we supply, fit and replace those too. See whole house filtration for the full filtration side of things.

Is a tap that won't turn off an emergency?

Yes. If a tap is stuck on, won't shut off, or the isolation valve under it has failed, turn the water off at the meter and call us. Our 24/7 emergency service covers the Northern Beaches, North Shore, Inner West and Eastern Suburbs.
